Week 6 (182/180)
On the first day of my final week, I rode with Trooper Hopkins. We responded to a few calls this day and also conducted some more traffic stops, mostly for speeding that was caught with the laser from multiple feet away. I learned how the laser works and why it is so important to use. It shocked me from how far away the laser can catch someone speeding.
My next day I got to ride with Trooper Petrias for the first time. Petrias is the newest Trooper as Salisbury Barrack E so I was able to learn how the academy has changed over the years and how graduation works. It was nice to ride with someone who is new to becoming a state trooper because he was able to learn a lot more about the academy because he is able to remember it more. He had also proved to me that even as a trooper, you will always learn something new everyday.
The third day was my favorite day, I got to ride along with the aviation crew. It was very fun riding inside of the Trooper 4 helicopter with their doors open. We recieved a call but last minute the call ended so I got to watch them practice hoists. I never knew how much work goes into aviation, especially testing the fuel and seeing how many buttons that there are.
My final day of my internship I tagged along with night shift from 10:00pm-6:00am and rode with Trooper Dean. I was able to see many interesting things as well as see a few of the K9's being used from different departments.
